Ready to Wind Down?

Coming off the beach, after a long day in the sun, means it is time for food.  The question however is do you turn left or do you turn right? - the answer is it does not matter.  Whether you rode down to Gulfview Beach Access Point or Blue Mountain Beach Access Point, we have you covered with options galore.

First - to food

Do you know the 4 basic food groups? - Let's see if you got them right.

1) Coffee; 2) Tacos; 3) Ice Cream; 4) Beer - some may also advocate margaritas

Right alongside Scenic Highway 30A is a paved bike path that stretches over 19 miles.  There are numerous places that will rent you bikes for your entire stay and even have them delivered to the. house.  In addition to being a bike trail, this trail connects the gorgeous beach towns that make up Hwy 30A; each are filled with food, shops, and of course - the beach!  Definitely something to consider while you are here.

Do you ever find yourself wanting to get out and explore somewhere new.  While we love where are located and believe that Blue Mountain Beach is a quiet retreat, we also find ourselves enjoying trips to Seaside time and time again.  This town is full of spirit and never falls short of things to do.  Want outdoor music? - they have it.  Want to visit an Airstream food truck? - go here.

P.S. You can get here from our home via the golf cart (12 minutes down the road) or by bike along the Timpoochee Trail.

Dolphin Reef_edited_edited.jpg

Dare to explore what you can find under the sea? - we absolutely recommend considering a trek out to one of four snorkel reefs that can be reached by kayak or paddleboard.  Each of the four reefs are crafted in the shape of an underwater creature: a seahorse, a turtle, a dolphin, and a grouper.  The closest reef is approximately 685 feet from the shore and the farthest is 970 feet from the shore.  There is always the option to stand on the shore and chase the bait fish lingering around your toes.  My daughters and I truly love this.

Morrison Springs.jpeg

These parks are home to spring pools that each produce an estimated 48 million and 28 million gallons of crystal clear water each day.  Although it will require a drive, this is a perfect day trip to mix up the fun. Morrison Springs Park boasts  large boardwalks overlooking the springs as a well as a diving dock.  At Vortex Spring, you will find a diving board, high jump platforms, slides, and a rope swing to provide fun-filled launches into the cool spring water.  Both locations offer picnic tables, grills, and areas to relax.  Both locations are perfect to escape the heat of the summer months and coolf off in pure and refreshing water.

Fun fact - you can also go scuba diving at these springs

Crab Island

Crab Island - a submerged sand bar next to the Destin Bridge.  This is the epitome of a festive atmosphere where you can enjoy crystal-clear waters that make up the emerald coast.  This is a popular spot for boaters, tourists, and locals alike! Large enough for hundreds of boats, kayaks, and waverunners to anchor down and hang out, some of the area’s top events take place at the sandbar all spring and summer long!

Buccaneer Pirate Cruise

We did one of these in Mexico and we have done this one as well.  Hands down, this one is better.  Sailings are offered almost everyday and they even offer a Fireworks cruise on Mondays and Thursdays.

The Henderson Spa

This is hands down the best spa in the area.  Our hobby is travel and this spa will truly help you unwind.  Just ask my wife herself!  She looks forward to getting away to here, as truly a way to reset the body and soul.  This spa is located inside the area's only luxury resort and sits next to the lush 200-acre nature preserve of Henderson Beach State Park on the sandy shoreline of the Gulf of Mexico.
